Child Admission Policy

The purpose of the Child Admission Policy is to help safeguard that group of pool users who are historically most at risk of drowning in swimming pools. In the majority of drowning of children in swimming pools, the absence of parental attention has been found to be a key factor.

All children under the age of 8 must be supervised throughout their visit to the pool by an adult in the water with them. An adult is a person aged 16 years or older.

In the main pool, one adult can only supervise one child aged 4 or under, or 2 children aged between 5 and 7 years old.

Please ensure that children use the toilet before entering the pool.  This reduces the amount of chemicals required to maintain the pool water quality.  Occasionally children can can have ‘accidents’ while in the pool.  If this should happen and faeces enter the pool, please tell a member of staff immediately.

Ask the child to tell you if they want to use toilet while swimming.  Please do not encourage them to ‘go’ in the pool.

Children up to the age of 3 years old or who are not toilet trained, must wear a purposely designed nappy/costume.  Please ensure that you take all used swimming and disposable nappies home with you.

Do not bring your child swimming if they are unwell or have recently suffered from diarrhoea or vomiting.

Do not leave a child in to pool while taking another child to the changing rooms or toilet.

Supervision requires an adult to be in the water with the child they are supervise and not just on the pool side.
